Informative
End of inclusion
As of 1 October 2026, enrolment for this study has closed. This means that we are no longer accepting new participants. The reason for this is that we have already far exceeded the number of participants required to generate robust and reliable study results. In fact, we have enrolled more than 1,800 participants! We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone involved in making this study a success: all the patients who have chosen to participate, as well as the physicians, research staff, and other team members who work hard to ensure that the study runs smoothly and successfully. Your commitment and support are greatly appreciated.
Start Spanje and Singapore
As mentioned previously, Spain and Singapore also expressed interest in participating in the study. We are pleased to report that in both countries the first patients have now been screened or already randomized. This brings us closer to the number of participants we aim for, namely 1,750.
International patient advisory board
Because we consider it important that patients have a voice and can participate in decision-making within the study, a Patient Advisory Board was established. Initially, this board consisted solely of Dutch patients. However, as the study is now being conducted in many more countries, and as patients' priorities and the most effective logistical approaches may differ between countries, our Patient Advisory Board has since become international. With the addition of participants from Spain, Germany, Belgium, and Australia, we are better able to address diverse preferences, needs, and cultural practices. Every three months, an online meeting is held between these members and the Groningen study team to discuss ongoing developments and provide feedback. The new members will introduce themselves in upcoming newsletters.
